Grotto of the back
The Cave of the Dhuhr or Barqash is a famous and very important cave in the forests of Barqash, estimated at 4 million years old.
It is the only known natural cave in Jordan, with an estimated area of 3 to 4,000 square meters.
The cave of the back consists of a number of cavities and narrow long corridors that are interconnected in complex networks
Sometimes these passages can be as long as 100 meters or more, spreading through the stalagmites and caves of the usual caves, some of which are about 170 cm long in the cave.
This cave is located on a drop of 20 to 30 meters from the ground
Inside a rock mass of 50 to 60 meters thick and one to 20 meters high, it is separated from the adjacent forest road by 150 meters.
The cave of the noon was first discovered in 1995; it was not known before that time.
When it was discovered, its entrance was a narrow rocky corridor, half a meter wide and 3 meters high.
However, several years later, in 2003, the authorities closed a section of the corridor wall so that it could be wide and passable.
The existence of this corridor in the past may have hindered humans from entering or living inside the cave, maintaining its natural form.
