In the north of Jordan, 115 kilometers from the capital Amman, towards the northernmost corner of Jordan, northwest of Irbid Governorate, the Banani Kenana Brigade, between its plains and plateaus, and its spring environment, Yarmouk forests, which covers an area of 20.5 km.

The Yarmouk Forest Reserve is surrounded by several villages, including: Malka village, which is located east of the reserve.


Importance of Yarmouk Forest Reserve:

The reserve has been constructed to preserve a proportion of the fallen oak forests, where the site has the best representation of these forests in Jordan.

You will miss a lot if you do not try tea on one of the views of the Yarmouk Forest Reserve, where the Yarmouk Forest Reserve overlooks three countries, where you can see the Syrian Golan Heights, the mountains of Sheikh in Lebanon, in addition to the mountains of Palestine.

Its characteristic is that it lies within the route of bird migration between three continents (Asia, Europe and Africa), and its plateaus in the northeastern part of the country overlook the Yarmouk River, giving it uniqueness among evergreen trees.

The opportunity to return to the Roman era, where a Roman aqueduct was discovered in the Yarmouk Forest Reserve by the German expedition, located along the city of Jedara within underground tunnels.

One of the most distinctive experiences in the Yarmouk Forest Reserve is the 2-3 km long path, which was established in 2018 to enable the visitor to see the facilities of the reserve and promote th

e site as an eco-tourism product, and was designated to conserve plants and biodiversity.


At the end of the path, the view awaits you, allowing you the opportunity to empty the memory of all the grief by enjoying the miracle of nature and beauty.


Birds in the Yarmouk Forest Reserve

The Bird Forest Reserve recorded 104 bird species, equivalent to 26% of Jordan's birds, belonging to 26 families, such as resident birds (brown eagle). In addition, nesting and migratory birds are recorded and the punishment of serpents is the most prominent.


The importance of the Yarmouk Forest Reserve is that it is a region of bird migration due to its location within the Jordan Valley and within the migration path between three continents (Europe, Asia and Africa).


 


Plants in the Yarmouk Forest Reserve

The total number of plants registered in the Yarmouk Forest Reserve is about 256 plant species belonging to 49 families, classified as follows: 37 medicinal species, 18 species used for decoration, 8 species characterized by wood composition, 17 edible species, 39 species palatable to livestock, in addition to 7 Toxic types.

43 species of animals have been registered in the Yarmouk Forest Reserve and are divided into thirteen families including mammals, rabbits and carnivores.
